New Morning Mercies - Lamentations 3:22-23

New Morning Mercies - Lamentations 3:22-23 - Proclamation Coalition

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” - Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT

Your alarm clock didn’t wake you up today.

God’s mercy did.

Maybe you’ve been caught in a familiar loop—dragged back to the same sin, the same struggle. And now all that’s left is guilt and shame. Overwhelming darkness.

But even if you have wandered. God has not left. His mercy didn’t skip a day, and His love didn’t take the night off. His faithful love endures, and His promises remain. Even darkness is light to Him. (Psalm 139:12)

This is the kind of Father we have—one who meets us at sunrise with the fresh outpouring of that which we don’t deserve. Mercy. The One who intentionally designed the rhythm of mornings into creation so we could be reminded of this:

You get to begin again. The mercies of the Son rise at the break of dawn.

So no, you don’t have to carry yesterday’s failure into today.

You don’t have to listen to the voice that says, “Well, you already messed up… might as well do it again.” “Do the easier thing.” “Take the satisfaction now,” or even “Prove yourself worthy.” “You better go do something really good before you can talk to Him again.” “He doesn’t want you anymore.”

All lies.

The truth? You don’t have to prove anything to earn God’s delight. You couldn’t earn it if you tried.

But through Christ—through His finished, perfect work—you’ve been given righteousness. Your shortcomings are overwhelmed by His perfection.

So tomorrow morning, when your eyes open—before you light up your phone or grab your coffee, before shame speaks, before the lies try to settle in—remember this:

His mercy beat you to it.

It was already there.

Waiting. Ready. Enough.

So run to Him. Not your shame. Not back to your sin.

And stay.

I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you, the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. Psalm 139:7-12
