ALL CREATION PTL! - Psalm 148

ALL CREATION PTL! - Psalm 148 - Proclamation Coalition

Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being. Psalm 148:5 (NLT)

(Let the) Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds, (Praise the Lord!) Psalm 148:9-10

How can the mountains without breath, the birds without words, the wild animals without songs, or the trees without lips praise the Lord?

Their very design is their worship. You see, praise isn’t just in our morning devotional or during the Sunday setlist. Our whole life belongs to Him.

In the garden, we too gave praise to God through our being. Worship wasn’t limited to our voice. It was walking with God in the cool of the day, resting in His presence, filling the earth with His image, and even working the ground—fruitful, peaceful, joyful work that was done in partnership with Him. Our existence reflected His.

Yet in our brokenness, we stepped out of the created design. We went our own way. We traded worship for selfishness, the Creator for created things, and praise for pride.

“Praise the Lord” became “pride in self.”

Like a broken mirror, the image we were to reflect was distorted.

But Christ came in our likeness to restore us back to His.

He became like us so that we could be made like Him.

He walked with the Father, worked with joy, served in humility, and gave His entire life as praise back to God.

Let’s follow in His steps…returning to the Garden’s way of worship. To walk with Him again. To work for Him and not for man. To rest in His peace. To let everything we do praise the Lord again—our song, our obedience, our hands, our habits, our very being. To give our breath back to the one who gave it to us.

All of creation worships by reflecting the Creator who made it through its obedience, beauty, and its being. The mountains display His greatness. The birds usher in the sound of His morning mercies. The wild animals reveal His power. The trees stand as a display of His steadfastness.

Let everything praise the Lord with everything.

Sing to the Lord a new song, for if we don’t, the rocks will cry out in our place.

PRAISE THE LORD!
