“And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Revelation 22:7
If you’ve ever known someone who’s engaged or been engaged yourself, you know what it’s like to live in anticipation.
To live like something big is coming.
Every possible moment is spent together. You’re dreaming and planning for the wedding day. You’re sending out save-the-dates, sharing the news, and talking about it constantly. And if that’s not enough to show people what’s coming, the engagement ring does the job.
All this to say—if you’re about to get married, people know about it.
Did you know you have a wedding coming?
Are you preparing for it? Are you telling anyone about it?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:3
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. Matthew 24:36
In the Ancient Jewish betrothal process, after a man and woman were betrothed (legally bound but not yet living together), the groom would return to his father’s house to prepare a room or build an addition for his bride. This could take months or even longer, and the bride wouldn’t know exactly when he’d return. Only the father of the groom could determine when the son could go back for his bride. After the preparations were complete and the father approved, the groom would come to take his bride to live with him.
That’s us. We (the Church) are the Bride, and Jesus—the Groom—is preparing a place for us. He’s coming soon to take us home when the Father says it’s time.
So live like it.
Keep your lamp lit.
Let your life show the world that the wedding is near.
Tell everyone about it!
Live like Jesus is Coming Back Soon…because he is
